about
my passions and what i want to research
I’m Dryo (or Neph), and I’m passionate and insatiable. For a long time, I found myself trying to learn anything, whether it was German, Python, or Pro Tools.
Background
My educational background is in music technology. I’ve studied audio from why to use a plugin to what it means to do so, and I’ve developed an intricate understanding of signal because of it. This was only after I spent my childhood immersed in computers and music. I couldn’t live without doing both.
Interests
Naturally, my main interests are in software and audio, but I wouldn’t be myself if I couldn’t study language. I began self-studying German in high school because I found it helped me understand English better, and I tried learning Latin to understand French. The ultimate core of what I want to study is this: the temporal and spectral markers of one’s speech must be key linguistic features, and they must be meaningful. If I can’t figure out a way to translate that from one linguistic culture to another, I will spend my life trying.
